History
In the early seventies of the previous century two scientist at Delft University
of Technology, Department of Mathematics, started the development of software for
Modelbuilding and Simulation. Initially this resulted in a subroutine package, written in
PL/I, for use on mainframe computers. Because it was based on the Process Description Method,
this was called PROSIM.
In 1980 they started their own consultancy company and aquired the copyright on
the software. Due to the introduction of personal computers they converted the package to
an Integrated Development Environment for use on that type of equipment.
Nowadays the company is called Prosim bv and the software is evaluated to a
full-featured Windows based application for Modelbuilding and Simulation. It is used in a
great number of both commercial and governmental organisations.
